Gospel Care Training: Discipling Others with the Gospel

Hey church family,

We are excited to offer Gospel Care Training again this spring, May 18-20.

What’s the purpose of this training? Gospel Care Training (GCT) is a course designed to help develop the major skills needed to counsel, care, and disciple others effectively with specific truths of the gospel in loving ways.  It is the foundational course for all ministries related to care and discipleship.

Who this course for? It is essentially for any follower of Jesus who desires to be better equipped to disciple and care for others.

GCT is highly recommended before participating in Redemption Groups. However, it is required for Community Group Leadership, Redemption Group Leadership, and Marriage Coaching.

We suggest that entire Community Groups participate together to help foster a culture of grace and gospel intentionality in loving community.

Is there a cap to how many can participate? Yes. We can only have 12 ladies and 12 men participating in order to be efficient during the labs.

What is taught in this course? The teaching sessions covered are: Understanding Gospel Living; Gospel Listening; Gospel Exploring; Gospel Proclaiming; The Gospel and Anger, Fear, and Escapism; and Gospel Care Practice. Majority of the course is done in a lab environment that is “real life,” safe, and encouraging for the purpose of equipping others most effectively.

Does everyone have to do the labs and read the assigned books? Yes. Only the committed, courageous, and compassionate should participate.

What’s required? All participants are required to 1) read and understand chapters 7-12 of Paul Tripp’s book, Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hand, 2) read and understand You Can Change by Tim Chester, and 3) review the Gospel Care Training material before class begins.

What’s the schedule look like?

  • May 18 – Thursday, (7:00-9:00PM)
  • May 19 – Friday, (7:00-9:00PM)
  • May 20 – Saturday, (9:00-3:00PM)

How much is it to participate? There will be no charge for the course. Purchasing your books in the bookstore is the only cost.

Will there be lunch provided? No. Please bring a bag lunch.

What’s the deadline to register? MAY 7.
